Rate Case Impact

New Mexico Gas Company’s rates are changing in October. The adjustment was recently approved by the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission. The final order can be viewed here.

In October, the average monthly residential bill will increase 7.1%. For a residential customer who participates in our budget billing program and uses an average of 53 therms of gas per month, this would mean an increase of about $4.20 per month. The fixed monthly service charge for customers will remain unchanged at $12.40.

Customers can check their usage and determine estimated bill impacts on the table below. Actual bill amounts may vary depending on gas prices and other charges.

The company requested additional revenue to offset increasing costs resulting from compliance with expanding federal and state safety requirements, improvements to our delivery system and an upgrade of the company’s customer billing and account information system.

We submitted a request to change rates in September 2023. All of the parties to the rate case regulatory process reached an uncontested settlement agreement in March 2024. The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission approved the agreement on July 25, 2024.
